New Anti-wear Deflector Technology for Water Wall Tubes
2026/05/19

As a professional manufacturer specializing in water wall anti-wear solutions with 20 years of industry experience and professional technical teams, we adopt composite grid warp-weft flow guiding anti-wear technology for water walls of CFB circulating fluidized bed boilers. Anti-wear treatment is implemented on vertical water wall tube surfaces, extending the wear-resistant service life of vertical water walls of CFB boilers to over 3 years, realizing less boiler shutdown and safe and efficient operation.
Water wall abrasion has long been a tough problem in the industry. It is extremely difficult to prevent tube burst caused by abrasion on all heating surfaces of CFB boilers within one year. During operation, high-density wall-attached ash flow flows downward closely along vertical water wall tube surfaces and inter-tube grooves, causing severe scouring abrasion.
Layered deflectors are installed on all furnace walls to actively block wall-attached ash flow in multiple layers and divert scouring material flow effectively. The diverted ash flow flows down along tube surfaces and grooves without close contact, greatly reducing abrasion on water wall tubes below deflectors.
This technology changes material flow direction, lowers flow velocity and density, isolates high-speed collision between material particles and water walls, and fundamentally solves water wall tube abrasion problems. It is suitable for renovation of early-built CFB boilers without restrictions on wear-resistant pipe layout and surface smoothness, and applicable to partial protruding positions in furnace middle sections for anti-wear protection.

- The grid flow guiding technology diverts granular materials inside the furnace to form internal circulation, adjusts wall-attached flow and corner vortex flow, guides materials towards furnace center and eliminates contact abrasion between vortex flow and water walls.
- Comb-shaped deflectors are cast from high-temperature resistant and wear-resistant multi-element alloy, with service temperature up to 1800℃ and tensile strength ≥560MPa. Matched with diversion anti-wear process, its service life reaches 6 years.
- Mainly installed in dense-phase zones around the furnace, the metal deflectors improve heat conduction without affecting boiler load capacity.
- Deflectors effectively eliminate vortex formed by material flow on uneven tube walls, reduce particle collision and protect water wall tubes.
- Layered installation slows down falling speed of material particles, isolates material flow from tube surfaces and thoroughly solves abrasion issues.
- Easy installation and short construction period. For a 450-ton boiler, the construction only takes 5 days.
- This new technology has been widely applied in CFB boilers of multiple power plants. Practical operation proves that water wall abrasion is significantly reduced. No extra anti-wear measures are needed for castable transition zones, avoiding unplanned shutdowns caused by water wall abrasion and leakage. It also achieves excellent anti-wear effect on deformed water wall tubes of boilers suffering from dry burning.
